Hobson’s Park

Hobson’s Park offers a refreshing contrast to older countryside sites, combining newly created habitats with easy access from the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Trumpington. Gentle paths wind through open grassland, past ponds and along the brook, making it an excellent place for a relaxed walk, a lunchtime escape, or a longer exploration on foot or by bike. The wide, open feel gives a real sense of space, while seating areas and level routes make it accessible for a range of visitors.

One of the park’s highlights is its bird reserve, centred around a lake and reed-fringed ponds that attract an impressive variety of species. Skylarks, yellowhammers and corn buntings can be found in the surrounding grassland, while the water supports ducks, grebes and other wetland birds. Seasonal changes bring new interest, with migratory species passing through in spring and autumn, making it a rewarding spot for both experienced birdwatchers and those simply enjoying nature. Alongside the birds, the mix of habitats also supports butterflies and insects, adding colour and movement throughout the warmer months.
