Cam Valley Community Rail Partnership Featured in Great Northern Articles

We're delighted to have been featured in two recent articles from Great Northern, which together showcase both the work of the Cam Valley Community Rail Partnership and the communities we serve.
One article highlights the role of Community Rail Officer Sarah Grove and the wide range of projects delivered across the Cam Valley. From station improvements and biodiversity initiatives to arts, heritage and educational activities, the feature explores how community rail helps connect people with their railway and the places it serves.
The second article shines a spotlight on Meldreth, encouraging readers to discover the village by train and explore everything the area has to offer. From local walks and green spaces to independent businesses and points of interest, the article demonstrates how rail travel can help people access and enjoy destinations across our line.
Together, the articles reflect an important aspect of community rail. While much of our work focuses on improving stations, engaging local communities and building partnerships, our ultimate aim is to encourage people to make the most of their local railway and discover the places it connects.
Meldreth is a great example of this. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, station adopters and local partners over many years, the station provides a welcoming gateway to the village and the surrounding countryside, helping visitors arrive by rail and explore everything the area has to offer.
Sarah Grove, Community Rail Officer for Cam Valley Community Rail Partnership, said:
“It’s wonderful to see both the partnership and one of our station communities recognised by Great Northern. These articles show two sides of community rail: the partnerships and projects that take place behind the scenes, and the fantastic destinations that people can discover by train.”
We would like to thank everyone who contributes to community rail activities across the Cam Valley, including our station adopters, volunteers, community groups, local authorities and rail industry partners.
Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next rail journey or want to learn more about community rail, we hope you enjoy reading both features.
